True Friends

My eyes fill up with tears,
as I say goodbye.
We just stand there,
looking at one another.
We may see each other again,
but will we remember?
All the things we went through,
all the drama,
and we're still here.
But at this moment,
we step aside.
Giving each other hugs,
with frowns built on our faces.
Exchanging little gifts of memories,
to never ever forget.
Our make up is running down our faces,
the tears keep coming, nonstop.
We depart leaving a piece of each other,
in our hearts.
I'll never forget the mistakes we made,
the times we got in trouble.
But now we're leaving each other,
for something bigger.
So I say,
"Goodbye....."

The single drop falls from my cheek,
Every drop makes me feel weak.
They come pouring down now,
one after another.

My cheeks are stained,
with the drama of us.
It used to be easy going,
The way we were.

The flowing conversations,
now are awkard silences.
We never last forever,
only on a single strand.

I look at your picture,
torn between my hands.
Layered with dust,
a drop lands on your face.

Your dimpled smile,
turns into a frown in my mind.
The way you used to look,
placed an image in thoughts.

We fell apart in time,
now thats the present.
So I sit here waiting,

What happened?

I spend more time thinking,
about how the time used to be.
When you could leave your doors unlocked,
cuz you could trust those around you.
When the world wasn't so polluted,
cuz everyone excercised.
When everyone sat and ate with their family,
cuz they cared and enjoyed the company.
What happened?
The time has changed and has been left behind in the past.
